Maggie's on the River | Watertown NY

Overall Beer Rating: đŸșđŸșđŸșđŸș (4/5 Beers)

Some places sneak up on you. From the outside, Maggie’s on the River doesn’t scream “destination.” Step inside, though, and suddenly you’re posted up with a cold beer, staring out at the Black River, wondering how long you can justify staying for just one more.

📍 Address: 500 Newell St, Watertown, NY

🌊 First Impressions

The interior opens wide to river views that instantly elevate the experience. The layout splits nicely between a lively bar side and a calmer dining area facing the water—pick your vibe and settle in.

🍕 What We Ordered

We’ve been here multiple times, and it usually hits the spot.

  • Supreme Pizza — house red sauce, provolone & mozzarella, onions, peppers, black olives, roni-cup pepperoni, and spicy sausage crumble. A classic pub pie done right.

  • Layered Nachos — chili, cheese sauce, shredded cheese, olives, tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa. Messy in the best way.

Both came out hot, fresh, and satisfying—no reinventing the wheel, just solid execution.

đŸș The Drinks

With 44 beers on tap, Maggie’s earns serious points. You’ll see local pours from 1812 Brewing Co. alongside a rotating craft lineup that keeps things interesting for hop-heads and stout lovers alike.

💡 Happy Hour: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 PM (Bar Area Only)Appetizer and drink specials, plus weekday food deals worth a look.

đŸ§â€â™€ïž Service & Atmosphere

Staff was friendly, though they occasionally disappeared, stretching wait times. Once they were back, everything was handled smoothly. The vibe is casual and upbeat; the music leans sports-bar chaotic, but the riverfront seating more than compensates.

Stan Note

This is a stay-for-the-view spot. Time your visit for golden hour and the river does half the work.

đŸ» Final Thoughts

If you’re rolling through Watertown and want a dependable meal, a deep tap list, and relaxing water views, Maggie’s on the River belongs on your list. A few service quirks, sure—but the beer and scenery make it worth the stop.

On the Bar Fly Verdict:👉 Great beer. Great views. Minor hiccups. We’d go back.
